Dagger Zine reviews "Al Killem's Final Show"...

A really neat review of the latest “Al Killem’s Final Show” set from the Dagger Zine blog in the good old US of A. The final sentiments I particularly agree with!

Much obliged, guys!

BEAU – Al Killem’s Final Show (Cherry Red)

Beau is back (known to you and me as Trevor Midgley)! Seems like I just reviewed a Beau record last week, or perhaps that was last month (I think it was last year). Which means he’s keeping busy which is a good thing (Idle hands are the devils playthings…as someone once said).  As Beau himself said of this album, it includes “a couple of whimsies, a couple of weepies and a few other bits and bobs!” Beau is a folk singer at heart, sweeping across his homeland like he’s part of a travelling show, warning the other villagers about what the future holds. Of course most of them don’t believe him but hey, it’s their loss as he speaks the truth. The smart ones who do heed his warning know what the future holds (you’ll hear bits about wokeness, cancel culture, and other current themes). Cuts like “Bells Beyond the Stars,” “Socrates,” “Hildegard of Bingo” and “Immaculate Deception’ tell most of the story here but most of these 14 tracks are worth your time. Also as it states on the press sheet, he recorded these on his trusty 1968 vintage Harmony 12-string guitar and it’s his 13th release for the Cherry Red label (for those with their score cards out. Long live Beau!
