History repeats...

In August 1665, to prevent the spread of serious disease, the North Derbyshire village of Eyam isolated itself from the rest of the world. Less than ten per cent of the village population survived. In January 2020, and again to prevent the spread of serious disease, the East Chinese city of Wuhan has been totally quarantined.

Eyam had a population of 360; Wuhan has 11 million. I wrote a song about the Eyam episode. I seriously hope I never have to write one about Wuhan.

Here’s the late Roy Bailey’s beautiful take of “The Roses Of Eyam”.
